Welcome to The Schatte Web Server and dynamically built server pages. Deployed on the Windows XP Professional operating system running the Apache PHP Web Server and MySQL RDBMS Server connected by Entouch Systems broadband cable. And brought to by SchatteNotShoddy consulting.

I am a Senior Software Engineer with 35+ years experience full time and the last 10 years part time. After retiring from full-time work, I have worked in Web technologies for last several years in my Home Office Lab and on Short Term Contracts.

I have worked in full life cycle application development. I have developed many complex client/server systems over the years. First in ALC on mainframes, then in C on various servers, and now Java and others.

Now, I have gone full circle with all the Web technologies. And I developed my personal Financial/Retirement Modeling and Planning (MyModelPlan) MySql Application with JSP, ASP, ASP.NET, PHP, and then on the rapid development frameworks of RubyOnRails and cakePHP. I can demonstrate this application on the various environments.

This application is SECURE with secure login. Public users can register FREE and then login with their own private userid and password. They can enter their own financial model data, execute their model, and print the results from their web browser, download output to Excel spreadsheet, and/or view a chart. The application demonstrates RubyOnRails access to RDBMS tables. It also demonstrates the RubyOnRails capability of interfacing to other languages since the model logic (execute) is a Java command line program.

This application is a personal log application written using CakePHP and jQuery/Ajax/Javascript (FullCalendar) technology. It demonstrates basic CakePHP application capability with no login. Public users can view events. The application demonstrates CakePHP access to RDBMS tables. CakePHP is a rapid development framework for PHP that provides an extensible architecture for developing, maintaining, and deploying applications. Using commonly known design patterns like MVC and ORM within the convention over configuration paradigm, CakePHP reduces development costs and helps developers write less code.

This application is the TEXAS4000 application: www.texas4000.org.

I have been the production site total system man for the TEXAS4000 web site. Also, I am the Ruby Engineer for last 4+ years. This RoR application was developed by a MIT class over 4 years ago. In Summer of 2006. I developed the CACHING enhancement which prevented shutdown of the Linux website on the Bluehost hosting company. Later, I developed code changes for conversion to RAILS 2.02 after Bluehost totally shutdown the website. Then I developed code changes and moved site to SenseCorp server in St. Louis running on Windows Server 2003 R2 under Apache 2.2.8 with Mongrel instances. Then we made changes with GUI upgrades to the site. In 2009, I added the Javascript interface to Google Maps API for the routes. Also, added Sponsors slideshow to front page. All of the RoR code upgrades were developed and implemented by me. I have added much new functionality for Contacts for the various activities. With multiple people making changes to the site, I established a development site where changes are integrated and tested.

Frank's 70th birthday, 2009.05.26

"Here are some shots I took on my 9 hour, 12 minute outing yesterday. I gave myself a birthday Geschenk (as they say in German... means gift. As a point of interest [disinterest?] Gift in German means poison...). I took a hike and climbed the Kramer. On the top, I signed the book. There were lots of strange-looking tree trunks, nice flowers, and the weather was perfect. I beat the big rain back by about 30 minutes. Today, I'm just taking it easy."
